kavi: the 10 funniest things i have ever seen (on the internet), the guardian
everyone who has ever written can now put down their pens, stop clicky clacking their keyboards, wipe the ink stain from their quill off the side of their hands for the last time⦠friend of the show, kavi, has written the perfect paragraph.
When my mum got an ultrasound, there was a 10-minute delay before my image appeared on the screen. This was because I was in the womb messaging my group chat asking whether I looked better with the Amaro or Valencia Instagram filter. A couple months later, as I was being wheeled out of the hospital after being born, I asked my parents to hotspot me because my Tumblr themeβs HTML code was broken; I had to quickly tweak it because Lorde had been reblogging some of my mutualsβ posts so there was a chance of her noticing me, but probably only if my animated sparkle cursor was functioning properly when she went on my page.
the rest of the article is funny too.
other good articles iβve been enjoying include:
inside the secret london whatsapp group for extremely tall men, dazed
on her 40th birthday, alexa chung shares 40 pearls of wisdom with vogue, british vogue
natasha stagg on gatekeeping, nyc supremacy and the decline of criticism, gq
my favourite excerpt of the natasha stagg story
jemima kirkeβs instagram story
i need to shut up about jemima kirke. but hey, i donβt want to. occasionally she does an ask me anything on her ig story and her answers would make plato weep. sheβs so insightful. so cutting. sooo does not give a fuck. top marks.
a change of pace: but, the work that bisan and the other reporters are doing out of palestine is incredible and heartbreaking and awful and so so so brave. in awe.

good material, dolly alderton
two weeks ago, ben and i went to see dolly alderton speak for her book launch. as soon as we arrived, it was clear we were at the white women convention, and then when we sat down it become abundantly clear that all the white women at the white women convention were white wined out the wazoo. try and say that 3/4s of a savvy b down. this is when i came to the conclusion that our lady dolly is the taylor swift for the literary girls.
this sounds like iβm slagging her off, but iβm not. sheβs a radiant superstar that holds the hearts of 20-something-year-old teenage girls in her hands. she commanded the audience with a humility and grace, despite everyone in the room knowing that if she wanted to start a cult right then and there weβd all join it.
I started good material on sunday morning and i scooped it up with the gusto you consume a pint of post break up ice cream. in the bath, on the bus, under my doona. itβs been a long time since i havenβt wanted to do anything but read a book. perfect piece of escapism.
not drinking diet coke
i want to like it. itβs the chicest accessory. the fashion girlies do it so well: huge trench, ciggie, diet coke in hand. itβs fashion. itβs iconic. itβs history. itβsβ¦ gross. iβve tried to like it, to assimilate, but all i can stomach is one sip. a girl needs to know when to hang up her metaphorical boots.
p.s. not only is kate moss is on the wrappers for the 1.5l bottles in the u.k., sheβs literally the creative director for diet coke. incredible.
the hangover games, sophie heawood
a perfect, but perhaps misleading title. i didnβt really read the description on the back before i picked it up, but turns out this book wasnβt really about partying, it was actually about becoming a single mum. no offence, but iβm much less interested in the latter. single part? epic. mum part? naahhhhh.
anyway- book was good. funny, though quite millennial. full of good observations, just like dollyβs.Β another heady, juicy read. still donβt want a kid but.
