jasmine:
Hi! I’m Jas, a writer, editor, podcaster, and girl about town.
Joss and I met at Pedestrian Group. I’d come up with the sexiest ideas for brands and present them to Joss, where she’d then approve them and together, we’d make BANK.
I still do this, just not for Joss anymore (sad).
Anyways, here are some things that have been on my mind lately.
angel alert!
this is the online bit
Insane Christmas gift guides:
Is it just me, or is Black Friday and Christmas shopping on fkn crack this year?? Apparently, none of us have money, yet brands are violating every line of communication they have, to tell us that we’re going to miss out on 17% off polyester underwear. It’s giving desperation.
While every influencer and their mother has created their own gift guide, the ones I actually watch are the insane ones. I’ve been obsessed with Benton McClintock’s dramatic reading of various online gift guides including Vogue, Goop, The Rob Report etc on TikTok.
I wish I could gift my best friend an Augarten Wien French Baguette porcelain box for $544AUD, but sadly, I’m not a nepo baby.

Spotify Audio Books
I recently cancelled my Audible subscription (for the fourth time) because Spotify has released a huge range of audiobooks and I’m OBSESSED.
Instead of spending $30 on a paperback, I now search up the titles I want on Spotify whilst I’m still standing in the bookstore. Shameless.
I’ve been listening to Her Sunburnt Country: The Extraordinary Literary Life of Dorothea Mackellar (the author of poem, ‘My Country’) by Deborah Fitzgerald over the past few weeks and love getting lost in the lives of Australians from 100 years ago.
All I have to hand over in exchange for these audio books is $18 per month and the entire contents of my data.
Sabrina Carpenter’s Christmas EP
We all need some joy in our lives atm and to gain some in mine, I’ve begun listening to Christmas music early. I’m not a hugeeee Christmas music fan – it’s usually reserved for the week before Jesus’ Big Day – but this year, Sabrina Carpenter’s EP, Fruitcake is giving me LIFE.
It’s sugary, bubblegum, candy cane pop, naughty and nice Christmas lyrics, and innuendos about Santa’s huge sack. Honestly, inject it into my veins at this point.
this is the irl bit:
The DND function on my phone
As a reforming Girl Boss, my bf is teaching me how to slow the fuck down on weekends. Since we moved into our new apartment, Sunday mornings have been spent drinking coffee on the sofa, reading my TBR pile, and turning my phone on Do Not Disturb.
I can feel my brain synapses calming down as I realise I don’t have to be everywhere and everything to everyone (all at once). The world can wait. Sunday mornings are for us now and I love it.
Collecting things to scrapbook
I’m so inspired by the likes of Martina Calvi and my friend, Allie Daisy King who hosts scrapbooking mornings at her house. I haven’t gotten to the physical scrapbooking stage yet, but collecting is the first step, right?
Not to sound like a Boomer, but I miss holding tangible things and memories. Every time I save a digital concert ticket to my Apple Wallet it depresses me.
Just doing it
As a certified Busy Girl with like three jobs, I find it hard to get stuff done outside of my work. Case in point, this newsletter. It’s not that I don’t want to do stuff like creative projects and writing a book, but sitting down and getting it done freaks me out for some reason??? Idk.
Anyway, I’m trying to get out of my head and not even give my brain time to come up with with excuses for things. As the old saying goes, Just Do It.
ciao bella 🍓
