georgia:
Hello! Firstly, a warm thank you to THE suburban princess, Joss, for having me. Truly an honour to send from my iphone.
Born in Sydney, raised in Sydney and still very happily living in Sydney. I am Georgia, an overly cheery and dorky lady who is perpetually running errands. Slightly obsessed with clothes, shoes, accessories and basically anything I can wear to make myself look like Alexa Chung and feel more Parisian. I am a woman of many hats, sometimes I like to get crafty and sew, sometimes I like to impersonate Nigella Lawson and cook, a lot of the time I cling onto my cultural roots and pretend I’m floating between the Greek Islands on a beach. I am a semi-retired rockstar now teaching English at a high school. I love my job. I feel so truly lucky that I can make a tiny impact in this world by empowering young people with knowledge and being the person who has unconditional confidence in their potential. My students make me smile every day and inspire me to be a better person (very sappy, but as you read on, you will realise that I am a sap).
Despite my many phases in this life and going from someone who was playing shows every weekend, bouncing around on stage for years, to someone who spends their Saturdays pottering around in homeware shops, bookstores and visiting by my grandparents, one thing has always rung true for me, I love sentimental traditions, comforts and I adore the little things in life that make you feel cosy and human.
introducing… the sweetest miss june!
this is the online bit:
Pinterest is my most opened app on my phone. I think it is the satisfaction of scrolling through the perfectly placed candy striped cushions, mixed matched outfits that somehow seem timeless, floral arrangements that make you consider opening up a floristry. It is my source of inspiration for organisational hacks, styling ideas (garments and home), recipes, motivational quotes and it removes the personality that social media seems to always be bound by. Pinterest is my search engine for everything! Maybe it is because I am a visual learner? I am unsure, but any questions I have, I type them in that search tab.
Sampha, Sampha, Sampha! Maybe my love for his music is heightened by the excitement I am feeling to see him live in Sydney soon. The album, Process, is one of those records I circle back to regularly. It has some of my favourite lyrics, melodies, soundscapes and everything seems so intricately woven together to be the album I think I will forever be in love with.
I am obsessed with Anastasia Miari’s recipe book, ‘γιαγιά: Time-perfected Recipes from Greece’s Grandmothers’ and Anastasia Miari in general. She has this deep heartfelt adoration for all the γιαγιάδες (grandmothers) in Greece who have built memories and stories with their hands. Anastasia is continuously posting delicious recipes from across the Mediterranean and champions for the wisdom and humour of these women.
this is the irl bit:
Messina
A true staple in my diet. I have ice-cream a minimum of 3 times a week. I work dangerously close to Messina and need absolutely no excuse except to see a special involving coffee or peanut butter to climb inside my Corolla and get myself a scoop. Ice-cream makes everything right and it is simply so scrumptious. I don’t believe in it being limited to summer, in fact, I think it is more enjoyable in winter when it doesn’t lose its creamy texture melting from the heat.
Dymocks
Dymocks is many things, a giftorium, a beloved bookstore, the perfect place to find the perfect card for the perfect person. The staff picks make me laugh. Above all, it is very sentimental, my mum has been taking me here for as long as I can remember. We would get the catalogue from the stand at the entrance, head to the cafe on the top floor, order scones with jam and cream, and devour them while circling all the books in the catalogue I want to read. I still do this in this exact order regularly and it makes me very happy.
Wylie’s
I get so excited to dip my head under the salty sea that once I have parked my car I basically jump out and power walk to Wylie’s Baths. I tap my fob, lay down my towel, jump in the water, order a coffee, then jump back in the water again. It does get quite busy, especially in summer, but it is just as divine in winter. Nothing quite like a winter swim followed by wrapping yourself up in a towel with a coffee in hand.
tchüssi!
