crime and chaos, an investigation by the digital fairy, the digital fairy
scammers hold court as the beloved anti-hero, publications are celebrating the 10 year anniversary of spring breakers and the other day i was at a coach event (brag) where one of the photo opps looked like you were caught on security footage. crime, or rather the aesthetics of, is hot property.
of course, the irony is out the wazoo when major fashion houses are capitalising off the aesthetics of crime, but i suppose fashion is a comment on The Times™️. anyway, i could explain more but you could click on the link above and download the full report. it’s really good. or i guess you could watch the tiktok summary version. your choice sugar tits.
it’s back. i’m not smart enough to understand the business blah blah stuff but what i do know is: everyone is awful; the writing is brilliant.
a particularly spectacular moment from Tom:
“Why? Because she’s brought a ludicrously capacious bag. What’s even in there, huh??? Flat shoes for the subway? Her lunch pail? I mean, Greg, it’s monstrous. It’s gargantuan. You could take it camping. You could slide it across the floor after a bank job.”
and here is a particularly spectacular article about the ludicrously capacious bag.
stanley tucci: searching for italy
last year on my way to mexico (another flex) i stumbled upon stanley tucci: searching for italy. i had become mildly acquainted with the man through various podcasts and films, but as i cruised across the pacific on a sea of clouds, i fell deeply in love. to be clear- not romantic love, but a queer mix between paternal and platonic.
my friends quickly tired of me willing the trips’ end just so i could be reunited with stanley. when it was time, i boarded the flight, snuggled into my neck pillow, donned my airbuds, ready at last. but, disaster struck: i had watched all 6 episodes available episodes on the flight over. i felt myself growing teary. the trip was done and so was my affair with stanley.
luckily, there’s a season 2.
it’s substack meets masterclass meets economist meets the new yorker

shared wardrobes
the thing about things, is that the more things you have, the more things you need. it is incredible how many things i have in my wardrobe, and simultaneously incredible how i have absolutely nothing.
now, dear reader, this is not where logic kicks in and you don something you have worn before and loved. this is when you burst into a housemates bedroom, pants-less and frazzeled, to ask if you can go shopping (i.e. pick something out of their boutique).
because the laws of housematedom require they say yes (even if it is accompanied with a sigh) and because they will very likely do the same thing to you in under the hour, your wardrobe has now doubled, tripled or even (if you’re as lucky as me) quadripled! hurrah! now THAT is what i call a circular (or perhaps a square?) economy.
acts of service
here’s a hot tip for you: surround yourself with people who’s love language is acts of service. once seen as lazy or selfish or self entitled, doing nothing for the other person actually becomes a radical act of love.
stop feeling guilty for saying yes to people driving you home, doing your tax or whatever other overextended offer they present. they want to do it. it makes them feel good. put your feet up, and indulge. because at the end of the day, it’s really all for them.
taramasalata and dill pickles
the other day i went grocery shopping and i thought to myself, being an adult is so awesome because you just buy what you want to eat. now, i’m not saying that mensa is knocking down my door, but i am saying is that i have a point.
when i go shopping, i don’t buy in meals, i buy in yum things. yes, it’s less practical, but where’s the instant gratification of buying kilos of flour or carrots?
high on the rotation at the moment is taramasalata and dill pickles. good separately, good together.
