the ultimate internet princess extended universe gift guide, internet princess
rayne fisher quann is substack’s lady diana. this girlie just gets it, and the people just love her. every year her gift guides positively slap. this year, she roundtables notable girls including brock coyler and marlowe granados for their perfect gift guides as well.
the whole thing is perfect. one of brock’s recommendations is as follows;
A Nude — I have a completely inappropriate craving to know what all of my friends look like naked. It's not sexual, really. I just think it's nice to know what everyone has going on down there. At your lame Friendsgiving this year, make everyone pull out a single nude and pass it around the circle. This newfound knowledge will come in handy when, later, you're trying to set one of them up.
and you know what? they’re right. a nude is an incredible present. i received one for my birthday this year from my dear friend maddie. an artistic shot of her sitting in bed, unclothed bar a pair of black knee length socks, holding a tray full of cocktails and wearing a haughty little smirk.
she’d gotten it printed out at officeworks, a3 for impact, and told me that she didn’t realise someone else would have to handle it at some stage, so when she rocked up to pick it up, the whole of officework’s staff turned around to stare and were like, “oh so you’re here for that poster”.
i spend a lot of cry laughing thinking about that. but yes, nudes are a great present.
i have been listening to this song for nearly a whole year on repeat now, which is kind of a long time to be doing anything. i first heard it in the d.tiffany’s daisychain mix, and made all my friends listen to this specific part of the mix (from 22 mins) on repeat for agessss. the song came out like 3 months ago and jack sent it to me and then we sent about 50 messages back and forth gushing about how roza is so incredible. anyway the song is seexxyyyyyyyyyy. it is also just nice to be able to just listen to it without having to do all the admin of scrubbing back and forth. i can’t believe i haven’t talked about it on here before. song of the year vibes.
saltburn proves there’s nothing more gay than straight male friendship, i-d
i haven’t seen saltburn but i don’t need to to enjoy this article. sooooo good.
It feels like a unique, more complex kind of homoeroticism, more lethal and barefaced than the winking kind often tied to straight male friendships. IRL, these friendships act out performative ‘No homo, though’ homosexuality – the pet-naming, the overly affectionate touching, the jokes about “bumming” – that’s mostly absent here. Emerald has instead invented a reality in which platonic infatuation manifests as closely to homoeroticism as possible; where you can admire one of your guys so wholeheartedly that you’re one fist-bump away from wanting to fuck them.

the colour red
there’s this really beautiful paragraph in a book where the author describes the colour red without saying the colour itself. well, at least i thought it was a paragraph in a book, until i googled it and found to my horror that it was actually a response to a question on tumblr.
weird that this is not the beautiful piece of text i remembered it to be, aged 15 and so desperately lana del reyed out of my brain.
anyway, been loving red atm. red, white and denim. still trying to walk the line between being très chic and looking like a coloniser’s flag, but we’re working on it. bought this gorgy red patent leather tote from vinted and now i think i’m the most sophisticated woman in the world. matches my rosacea too!
caramel chocolate
when i was younger i was so obsessed with caramello koalas that i used it as a metric to signpost how much something cost. e.g. a ticket to the cinema = 15 CK, a new top = 30 CK. this makes me sound like a baby genius, but at the time their street value was $1, so it’s not like i’m about to get a phd in economics from oxford anytime soon.
i have recently moved to a house that has a corner store so close that i reckon i could leave and return home with purchased goods under the same minute (challenging toby to improve his PB racing to the shop is my favourite way to acquire snacks without moving). this, combined with the famed british winter setting in means the cravings are on a solid uptick.
during today’s supporting of the local economy, i realised that these men who run the shop probably think i’m extremely unwell- never having seen me out of a tracksuit or wearing a bra, greasy hair, bulk buying caramel chocolate. oh well. yum but.

a really fun, really clever holiday read. could i predict what was going to happen at some points? yes. does it matter? no because it made me feel like a smarty pants. and that feels pretty good sometimes.
